    乘着煦暖的加勒比海风，我们的Zuiderdam号游轮靠岸老圣胡安，波多黎各的首都。这是个航海时代西方诸强争夺的岛屿。当年西班牙人以此为据点，抵御了英国、荷兰殖民者的进攻。而1898年美西战争后，它却成了美国殖民地，现在则维持着美国自由联邦的地位。西方列强的争夺从这个国家名字的西班牙文意——“富裕之岛”上也可一看便知。

    一下船我便开始迫不及待的踏上老圣胡安的青砖路面。老圣胡安是老城的所在，原来四周都围绕着高耸的城墙，城墙下是惊涛拍岸。如今，除了东南面的城墙为了方便交通而打开了几个缺口外，大致保存完好。虽然城墙与海岸线一样曲折蜿蜒，但城墙内的老城以阿马斯广场为中心，一个街区一个街区方方正正。来之前已经好好的做了“功课”，打印好地图，标注上几处必去的景点。不过还是得益于老圣胡安的良好规划，不靠地图仅靠方向，我这个陌生人也能轻车熟路到处乱走。

    沿着古城墙墙脚，领略一路的城墙瞭望哨、慵懒的野猫、警觉的蜥蜴、猛然扎入水中的鱼鹰……这里特别想说说波多黎各幸福的野猫。海边礁石上有大把好心人播撒的猫粮，另外在礁石块的缝隙间有一些专门放置的白色塑料桶，蓄积着雨水。这样有吃有喝，猫咪们自然心宽体胖、悠然自得。

    不知不觉走到了一道红褐色城门前，一句提示语赫然眼前：“来圣胡安别忘了参观莫罗（San Felipe del Morro fortress）和克里斯托瓦尔（San Cristobal fort）堡”。嗯，是去这两个名列世界文化遗产城堡的时候了。于是拾级而上，沿着狭窄且有些坡度的道路走街串巷。在圣约瑟广场（Plaza San Jose）小憩时碰到一个拿着书本要去上课的大学生。他得知我要去莫罗城堡，热情的给我介绍城堡、这个老城以及波多黎各，和他交谈中得知老城有免费的旅游巴士，路边有数字小旗的地方就是站点。他赶着去上课，于是匆匆而别。当然得给他付点小费，于是乎开始佩服起当地人的大方好客且不失精明来了。

    走出狭窄街道，映入眼帘的是一片草地。说它广袤一点也不为过，足足有四五个足球场那么大。穿过草地，买了两个城堡的通票，开始领略这个扼守进出圣胡安入口的堡垒。堡垒和城墙一样依着海岸线和山势修建，和对岸的小堡垒形成的交叉火力可以很好的抵御海上来袭。城堡上飘扬着三面旗帜，美国国旗、波多黎各国旗和西班牙海军旗。虽然当年美国、西班牙曾经剑拔弩张，可如今这些旗帜却并排飘扬，足见现在当地人宽容坦荡的心胸——岁月拂去了争斗的伤痕，每段历史都值得后人回味。一看时间，离另外一个城堡关门时间剩下不多，于是赶快登上免费巴士赶往克里斯托瓦尔堡。逛完城堡恰巧幸运的赶上当地旅游协会在这里举办的拉丁舞晚会。激情四溢的演员、色彩鲜艳的裙摆、顿挫有力的鼓点……尽管太阳已经沉入加勒比海，可拉丁音乐的激情仍在我心中不断升腾。

    夜幕下的老圣胡安，城堡披上了灯光的金黄。我恋恋不舍的结束了匆匆行走，登上游轮，准备下一个目的地。
